Freshly revealing, bright and beautiful… Rebecca’s songs will stir your heart. Her deftly exquisite arrangements of voice and guitar, and graceful, grounded performances will take you on a special journey, both within and without.

Originally hailing from Brisbane, Rebecca first made a splash in the Australian folk scene by winning the Declan Affley Youth Encouragement Award at the National Folk Festival in 1999 when she was just 18.  Her eponymous EP was released in 2000 followed by her debut album All I See in 2006.  She has appeared at many Australian festivals, including the world renowned Woodford, National & Port Fairy Festivals, and has supported international acts including the Sharon Shannon Band (Ire), Grada (Ire),  Amelia Curran (Canada), Chris While & Julie Matthews (UK) and James Keelaghan (Canada).

Rebecca spent many years living on the aptly named Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, before embarking on an extended European adventure.  She left Australia’s shores for the first time in 2008 after accepting an invitation to join Australian folk duo Cloudstreet as guest cello-singer on their four month tour of the UK, Denmark and Morocco. At the tour’s end, she followed the road to Scotland where she fell in love with a bonny Scotsman, Donald McKay, and enjoyed a good dose of domestic bliss before heading off again, this time on a virtually non-stop seven month busking tour of Europe, playing cello and singing backing vocals with seven piece folk-rock band, The Wishing Well.

Now back in Australia, Rebecca is enjoying being reconnected with the vibrant acoustic/folk scene, performing as both solo artist and in a duo with Donald McKay.  For more information on this duo project, please visit www.wrightandmckay.com.

“Is there a superlative that can describe Rebecca Wright and her music? Luminescent? Scintillating? Seductive? All of those and then add … transcendent. Her songwriting is as exciting as her performance and put together they create a breathtaking and stunning alchemy.”    Sandy McCutcheon
